Stopped for a Friday fish fry over winter. I’ve had some pretty bad fish frys and this was right with them. Had the smelt and it was so fishy I couldn’t finish 1 small piece. Others had the cod and it was nothing special. The best part about the meal was the salad bar. If you’re in the area I would go elsewhere for fish.

Could have used more than one waitstaff in the dining area on a Saturday night. Many times we wanted something and she wasn’t available or didn’t stop. Cheese curds and jalapeno poppers came out quick and tasted good. Salad bar was typical and good. Coleslaw had good flavor. Main courses took a really long time (maybe due to on person getting broasted chicken?). My steak was swapped with another in our party. Luckily we were family and didn’t mind switching back after a few bites. Rib eye had good flavor. Garlic mashed potatoes were cold. The mint marshmallow fluff was an interesting conversation piece since we all tried to guess ingredients. Would go back for Monday wing night, but not for special occassion dinner.

Friday night fish fry was a disaster. The 2 pieces of haddock were just ok but not hot, and the American Fries were burnt, hard and cold. The perch was not cooked enough. The butter pats were frozen and unusable. The best were the pork and beans. Paid $31 for pork and beans. We will not come back.

True up north experience. Super friendly folks! Service was excellent! Broasted chicken was excellent. T-bone had exceptional flavor. The meals came with a basic salad bar; which was very fresh. A ramen noodle salad accompanied both meals – beats cole slaw once in awhile. Give Firelite a try if your up by pickerel lake sometime!

We went here for Chicken Wings which they serve every Monday evening starting at 5pm. The wings are the best we’ve ever had and the service is top notch. You can chose to eat in the dining room or at the bar. Its a great getaway in the Northwoods any day!
