Having been in the food service industry obviously we’ve been to some of the best restaurants in the world. Traveling the world has given us an opportunity to dine at Michelin star restaurants with some of the most amazing chefs. With that said, this was absolutely the best meal we have ever had as a team at one of our greatest customers. between the service, the quality of food, decor, and presentation we wish there was six stars available for review.

Came here for a date night on a Friday night. Was greeted by very friendly hostesses and we chatted while I waited for my husband to arrive. Both so sweet and friendly and it set the night on to a great start. We were seated and ordered the 3 course prix-fixe menu.

The Essential experience is truly something special. From the minuscule attention to detail, to the flavors that will dance on your tongue, to the delicate presentation of plating – everything was perfection. My friend and I got a large selection from the a la carte menu to try most things. Stand out dishes include: the cuttlefish with chorizo, the white asparagus with bergamot cream (don’t forget to add the caviar), the blue prawns with a dill & chive bouillon, and the black bass with razor clams and a turmeric emulsion. For desserts, we had the raspberry sorbet with elderflower jus (wow!!!), and the very-popular soufflé with cardamom ice cream and citrus salad. Our captain server made sure that everything was taken care of, and didn’t leave time to worry about a thing. With excellent knowledge of the menu, and great suggestions regarding beverages, Manny really gave exceptional service. All of the staff is lovely – from the friendly host, to our servers, and management made sure to check in with us throughout our time there. They all worked together to give us an extraordinary night. I was able to introduce my friend to Chef Christophe so we could pass along our gratitude for the incredible meal. I truly believe if you are a restaurant person, that you must visit Essential. It is quickly ascending in rank to be considered the crown jewel of Upper West Side restaurants!
