Black Jax has great potential to be an Essex Gem. The food is delicious. The Popovers with smoked garlic is a unique and tasty treat. I live in the area and understand our working population for the service industry is dwindling, so the owner sadly has high turnover. The dining area is a bit packed in to maximize clientele which makes for a lively atmosphere, but the young novice staff struggle maneuvering around it.

I honestly rarely ever give five stars because something always goes array, but not tonight. This was a five star place, with five star tasty food and five star service. It started from beginning when we called to make reservations. Woman told us about handicap parking and honestly when I heard Black Jax Saloon I thought a dive bar atmosphere, but pleasantly surprised. It was beautiful inside and tables were nicely arranged. Nice Selection of drinks , Wine and Beer. When we arrived we were sat right away. The service was top notch, ontop of drinks, water, making sure we were happy at all times without having to wait for someone. They start you off with popovers with garlic butter. Yummy! I even asked to take some home. The food was absolutely delicious, tasty, flavorful. A totally REDO place. I cannot say not one negative thing about this place from beginning to end. Seriously need to come here to eat. Delish! Delish! We definitely will be back and spread the word.

Sberry Rv boat
Our first experienced in this restaurant some months ago we we stumbled upon it for a night cap and desert, which was out standing. I always meant to try the meals. Not being from that area. We made reservations. Upon arrival, (early) they placed us in a aisle table with not much room. Ok. So that’s ok. I Soo wanted to have the special of the evening. Prime rib. But, finding out, it was like going to a famers market, one needs to walk up. As if a Buffett, pick your cut and then it weighed . Seems a little cheesy and a very odd in full service. I chose not to participate in that oddity. When we choose a full service restaurant. That what we would expect.

Came here for dinner. Was told it was a great steakhouse. Everything from the appetizers to the main course was incredibly underwhelming. Way overpriced for the quality of food. The steak was terrible. The briskket was a joke. I would not recommend it. I am happy to pay top dollar for a good meal. This isn’t it.

My family met there for Sunday brunch. It was wonderful. Everything was top notch . We relaxed and enjoyed our family time. The omelets were cooked to order and delicious. Fresh fruit & warm pastrys outstanding I would recommend the Sunday brunch, or any time you want a really relaxing good meal. Thank you staff for doing an outstanding job.

Tasty high quality food and drinks! The chicken wings are to die for!!! the owner and chef Jack really puts love and quality in his food and always has some great specials to try out! Never the same boring menu here!! The staff is so kind and make you feel like family! Jason the bartender is so creative and unique he always has such good recommendations for cocktails, and if your someone like me who is afraid to step out your comfort Zone on trying new beverages he takes what you already like and creates something delicious! i am always Repeat customer!

This place is amazing! Went for lunch with 2 meat eaters, a vegan and a vegetarian and we all left happy. The menu has something for everyone, the food was creative, house made and fresh. But please take my word for it- do not skip dessert. They have a pastry chef there that makes beautiful and delicious things- they even make their own ice cream and the presentation is really special. Can’t wait to go back 🙂
