Decided to drive into the mountains from Knoxville way, got a little lost leaving, ended up in Greeneville at Monterrey. This place is amazing. Better than any place in Knoxville without a doubt. Everything was delicious, and it’s cheap compared to the place I typically go back home. Got so much food for only like $12. Only complaint was the waitress only came around to drop off my food, so my drink was empty the whole time I was here. Other than that, 10/10 restaurant. Upset it’s so far from home or I’d eat here frequently.

The food was great. Our waitress though, brought my food and my mother’s food, then about ten minutes later she brought my son’s food…my dad’s food never came and we had to get a manager to finally get it for us. We sat there for an hour before all of us had our food. She didn’t ask one time if we needed drinks or more chips and I had to get my own to go cup and box. The manager was so nice though. He didn’t charge my dad for his food and kept apologizing. It was delicious but she was extremely RUDE and had an awful attitude. If we had a better waitress everything would have been perfect.

We love this restaurant. We’ve been loyal customers to Monterrey’s for many years. We always go to this location. The other one is in the Greeneville Commons, and we don’t like that one. Mainly because it’s on a popular cruising strip for teenagers. It’s annoying when you’re sitting there with your family, trying to enjoy a nice meal, and then you hear loud music bumping and rattling the restaurant windows. Plus, they don’t give you the same generous portions as this Monterrey’s does. You get more bang for your buck at this location. Service is way better at this one, too.

Nice family owned Mexican restaurant. Very quick service and tasty food. Not spicy at all. If you want a little zing you’re going to have to ask for it, but , overall a great experience with the family. Be aware of game nights as it is packed with the players so get there a little early than usual to get a seat.
