The place is on a busy street and it’s busy most time went in for a late lunch. Turns out most of the items were not available on the menu except for madras masala dosa. Which was fairly good . While the Sambar and coconut chutney was really tasty the potato curry wasn’t so good. But overall a decent place to eat. The place has its pros and cons

Having travelled extensively, I can say that Chennai Kings is the best Indian restaurant in the US. We have tried so many dishes from the menu but their goat biryani is to die for. Highly recommend, please make sure you visit Chennai Kings on your next visit to San Francisco.

Online menu and in store menu is entirely different. Looks like someone bought this restaurant. Worst food experience. You cant go wrong on poori masala.. masala is one of the worst preparation. Next Egg kothu parotta. Felt like tomato sauce and parottA. Who put mustard in kothu parotta? 0 stars for both the dishes. Stay away !

Nice seating though it may not look like that from the outside. Food was good. I liked their dal. Dosa was okay and the stuffing in it was a joke lol. Poori was extremely oily.

So glad we chose to eat here. My kids are not the spicy type and don’t look forward to curry but so enjoyed the butter chicken which had a very different taste compared to what we normally order back home.

The 4 stars are for their response “Our customer satisfaction is most important”. I ordered Idly but I felt it was too hard for my liking and, my partner said he can exchange with his order. But, the server (don’t know whether she is the owner or not) was not okay and she said you can order any other replacement item. I like the sambar and tomato chutney. Good varieties of dosas.

Don’t overlook this small and cozy spot in fisherman’s wharf. The food and service were both outstanding. Very family friendly too. The CK chicken curry and kadai curry were outstanding!

It is a really good place for Tamil, or even South Indian Food. Dosa was great; so was sambar & chutneys. Oothappam was yummy; though it was not properly/fully cooked. Filter coffee came in a steel tumbler just like in South India, but was too strong.
