I have had Indian food in many places around the world, including NYC, London and Glasgow — all known for excellent Indian fare. Hands down though, Indian Flame stands out. I had their signature dish — lamb chops — and it was exquisite. Tender, perfectly seasoned and just past rare.

Simply delicious! I especially loved their samosas. I like that the atmosphere of this restaurant is so casual and inviting, not over the top like many other Indian restaurants. Good food, good service, reasonable prices. Those are the things that matter!

Love this place so much! The lunch buffet is amazing. Dinner is always exceptional. Last time I went I got the samosa chaat for an appetizer and the butter chicken for my meal, delicious!!! Others in my party have tried a variety of menu items and they are all awesome. They also have Vegan options which is great! The service is always excellent. We love it here!

So thrilled to have Indian Flame close by! For reference, our top favorite Indian restaurant in the Capital District has been Karavalli. Been going there for years and a couple of those years, a couple times a week! Still love them but nobody else could compare, until now. Both restaurants feature southern Indian style. Karavalli seems a little higher end for dinner still but Indian Flame is very, very good. Indian Flame might be starting a lunch buffet soon, not sure, right now it’s still off the menu. We typically get three dishes for the two of us so we can bring home a second (or sometimes third) meal. Their rice is perfect! Excellent madras coffee (I often get at Karavalli and now here; similar to a latte). Naan, very good. Favorite main dish: chicken sag tikka (spinach dish). We’re still trying to try all the dishes but often get the same ones such as: dal makkani, aloo gobi, dal tadka (a little subtler than makkani), chicken vindaloo, chicken chettinad (black pepper), shrimp mappas (shrimp are good sized and so far have always been very good), and cauliflower mango curry. Speaking of mango: Karavalli has a mango dish which is on the sweet side and is delicious. Indian Flame has three mango dishes but they all are not sweet. Not all traditional mango dishes are sweet so please inquire about the dish you’re interested in as to how sweet it is because there are differences between them. Also, spice/heat: you can actually ask for light, med, hot spice…even with vindaloo and chettinad! That’s always been my issue with those, I don’t want to just eat to be in pain with the heat, I’d like to taste the flavors and getting either dish in medium is perfect for me. I can’t comment on apps or biriyani, and I don’t eat goat/lamb. The traditional mango ice cream is very good, the parippu payasam (a lentil version of kheer, if you will) is good as well. Haven’t tried the others yet. Seating is comfortable, booths and tables. Take out is easy. Staff is always very nice. Pricing is very reasonable especially with the quality. Food always is fresh. Highly recommend Indian Flame! I’d post pics but by the time I remember, we’re done 🙂

Went for the buffet and was very disappointed . The mushroom dish was tasteless, the okra tasted good but was all shriveled up .Another veggie dish was like soup, mostly sauce . The Chicken Tikka was dry. Now the food that was good , the lemon rice, the Tandoori Chicken, Fish Curry . I see some people mention goat on the buffet, that is something I’ve never seen in multiple times eating the buffet there. It’s always been chicken and fish . Buffet was better 6 months ago

Delicious. It has lunch buffet (not include lamb/goat dishes). The best Indian food I had so far. Recommend it.

This used to be the best Indian restaurant in the capital region. At my last visit, however, I was horrified by the abjectly rude service and poorly prepared foods. It began with my waitress arguing with me that I should not order the spicier food as I would not be able to eat it. When I grew tired of arguing that I liked spicy food and said “fine, medium”, she replied “I thought so”. This was followed by Papadam that was both stale and burnt. The Malai Kofta was flavorless and the fried vegetables soggy. I completely understand needing to train new servers, and that kitchen staff rotates. However, if a restaurant has really good food, then bad service is bearable. If the food is bad but the service amazing that is also okay. Bad food and bad service does not work. I will likely try this once more because as I mentioned it had been the best Indian food around. Unfortunately, given this last experience, my hopes are not high.
