If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in north side chicago (let me tell you, not the easiest to find without going south chicago) this is the place to go. I come here regularly to get lunch for my partner and I and the food consistency is always there. They have wonderful vegetarian options (the sweet potatoe gordita or black bean burrito are two of my go-tos but they’re all good) and the meat there is tasty as well. The food is always ready in such a fast time, even if there are a ton of orders. I don’t think I have waited longer than 10 minutes for my food but usually is like 3-4 mins. I recommend this place to anyone, great food and the staff is super friendly.

We hired the taco cart for a backyard summer party and it was fantastic. Tania and her team are so easy to work with and the food was tremendous. Everyone raved. They present plenty of choices for the menu, supplied everything and were timely. The set up and take down was seamless, so it was not only delicious but also convenient! I highly recommend the taco cart for a catering option. It’s better than a truck in so many ways, it’s quicker and more personal, and quiet and clean.

Was excited to visit this place only to find out they were doing online orders only. Had to stand there and make the order online and then wait for the food. The first person I interacted with here was somewhat rude about the fact that it was online only, but the person who handed me the food was much friendlier. They did have a small table and 4 chairs outside on the sidewalk. Wasn’t the most ideal eating space, especially considering 2 people by a train got into a screaming match during my meal. Can’t control crazy pedestrians. I just wish they had a space to sit and eat. However, when we did get our food it was delicious. My burrito was slightly overpriced in my opinion but it was yummy.

Tomate used to be much better then they currently are. Their meat never tastes freshly cooked and always shows up cold next to other ingredients like rice and beans in their tacos and burritos. Whatever you do, DO NOT order delivery. Their drivers are always an hour or more late! The food really isn’t safe to eat at that point in my opinion. They never answer their phones and their delivery drivers are not traceable. They need a better system for delivery and fresher ingredients.

Favorite burritos from anywhere! So fast for pick up. Highly recommend the chili rellenos burrito. Tofu and yucca are also excellent. Amazing for vegetarians.

Excellent food. Like Mexican, but yummy flavor. Try the sweet potato burrito. I mean it. I get it in a bowl and put it over lettuce. Chicken Tinga Burrito is also great. If you want cheese, you have to add it on.

Last weekend I drove down from Buffalo Grove to Evanston to grab some food here at Tomate with my cousin. I wish I lived closer, the carne asada burritos are super clean & the best that I have tried in illinois. Friendly service as well, i will be back soon for the Chicken Gordita!

Best burritos I have ever had. Best value for price. I never leave reviews but for Tomate I have to. Almost lightspeed pace in making the burritos. If I could give more stars I would. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Not the best tacos in the world, not wow, meat is a bit dry in tacos beef. I loved their empanadas and will order more than one next time. Shop is tight, don t expect to eat there, it s only for pickup but food is well wrapped. Shop has different juices (rice, mango, etc.) but haven t tried them yet. Last but not least, staff is very kind!

This is my favorite spot for lunch in Evanston. The food is always fresh, made very quickly, and delicious. I’ve yet try something on the menu I didn’t absolutely love. I don’t normally leave reviews, but I need to tell someone!
