We lived in Las Vegas for several years which is where we originally discovered the Freddy’s chain. They were out favorite spot for fast food – perfectly seasoned fries, fresh tasting burgers, fun dessert options. When we moved back to IL a few years ago, we were excited to hear that there was now a Freddy’s in Crystal lake. We tried them for lunch one day and while not bad, found their food more lack-luster compared to the LV locations. Today we decided to try them again for dinner thinking our first experience was a bad day – we were wrong. This time the burger was dry/over cooked, the fries were burnt to hell and the cheese curds tasted like burnt oil (confirmed when we saw the bottom of the container). The cheese curds were also half full so you’re not getting what you pay for. Overall disappointed in this location and don’t plan on coming back. We don’t see this spot lasting very long if this is the quality they’re serving

Was incredible when it first opened. 2023 has not been kind to this location. Been three times (never again). Always waiting (literally) 30-40min. Always understaffed. Feel really bad for the employees – food service is hard but it seems impossible here as the owners seemingly care more about making money than properly staffing this location. It’s a shame. We now drove to Lake Zurich or another location if we want a smash burger.

Today was my first time ever eating from them. I had a double steak burger plan and my daughter had an steak and bacon burger. It was a miss understanding with my burger but the manager fixed it. She was very nice about it and replaced the steak burger.

We try to make it a point to support local establishments, and franchises that are unique to the area. It had taken us awhile to visit Freddy’s, but we finally got the chance. It was our first time visiting any Freddy’s location, so we weren’t sure exactly what to expect. The reviews from our party of 4 were mixed, but all agreed it was quite pricey, especially when compared to other establishments and franchises offering the same type of food, prepared similarly.
