Love, Makoto is a culinary love letter from internationally renowned Japanese chef-restaurateur Makoto Okuwa featuring three full-service options: Dear Sushi, an omakase menu that shares the best of Japanese sushi traditions plus some of the fun tricks Chef Makoto and his team have learned along the way; Beloved BBQ, a Japanese steakhouse where diners can grill their own American-raised beef or Japanese Wagyu; and Hiya Izakaya, a sleek and modern bar that pays homage to Japan’s storied nightlife, complete with whisky highballs and savory skewers. Love, Makoto is a three restaurants under one roof. You can do their omakase, bbq at the table experience, or bar/cafe. We went to the omakase restaurant, and it was very good. There were many courses and their menu featured a old school/new school approach to traditional Japanese sushi. All the fish was very fresh and tasty. The staff were very knowledgeable about all the courses. We also did the sake pairing which I would highly recommend. Only downfall was the space is very open. I prefer a more intimate space when doing omakase, but it was still a great dinner.

This sushi is hands down some of the best in the city. The chef told their story with the menu and we experienced their life through our meal with the new school and old school styles of sushi.

Love the macro-concept of a high-end Japanese food hall, with separate premiere restaurants focusing on sushi, bbq, ramen and a bakery. We dined at the Beloved BBQ (Yakiniku) and thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the service was solid as well. The decor is a bit limited, and the ambience a bit too energetic (loud), but overall a great experience.

Had dinner at the BBQ restaurant, which was a lovely experience. Understated interiors meet authentic Japanese flavors. Starters & side dishes were delightful & presented beautifully. Meat was good, but not great. Highly recommended for the experience.

We had a good birthday meal there and the sushi was very favorable. Some of the sushi are well innovated and I love the flavor combinations. Overall it’s a great price for an omakase deal. The atmosphere was slightly crowded and loud.

Absolutely stupendous Sushi program. For $75 it is an incredible deal on omakase. Absolutely loved the little touches like the menu being written like a letter. The cocktails and sake were absolutely top-notch. The dessert was my favorite course. So happy to see this place open up!!

This restaurant is so cute! Comparing this place to any other Omakase is definitely unique. They have good service. The staffs have knowledge about ways to prepare sushi from traditional to modern methods. While at any other Omakase, you will be interacted with the chef directly. I think this way, they can have more customers within a day so that more people can enjoy the experience with reasonable price. They have a cute love menu and drinks. I would go back again to try their barbecue at the back.
