The soul food at this restaurant is amazing. Everything on the menu is good and you get large portions. We were waited on very quickly and the food came out hot and delicious. I had smothered pork chops, cabbage, corn bread and sweet potatoes cake. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer drink which was the best I ever had and taste unlike any I’ve ever had. This is my second time going and I will definitely be back.

The Food, it’s like they are trying to kill you. When I think about soul food, you know it isn’t going to be healthy but dang not immediate death. The lemonade is made with pre-made lemonade mix, pineapple juice, and more sugar. Somehow, our lemonade turned out light green? Next, the collard greens. They put sugar in the collard greens. Not a pinch of sugar….. like candied collard greens. You can’t make this up. Next, the turkey wings. When I say I was disappointed… I cried. No onions, peppers, or seasoning. The gravy had no seasoning it was clear, and they had the audacity to throw some seasoning on top of the finished dish. Seasoning not even cooked into the gravy. The turkey wings were overdone as well. I’m 95% confident it was Tony Chachere’s Creole Brown Gravy Mix. Then the rice was overcooked….swollen like oatmeal. It’s supposed to be dried, fluffy cooked rice. Also, the cornbread is the same cornbread from Walmart…you know those tiny loaves of cornbread? Yes, those. The fried chicken wasn’t seasoned. Lastly, the pinto beans were straight from a can as it still had a metallic taste.

My husband and I were craving soul food and our usual spot had gone down hill in quality, so we came across Mary Lee and Mike’s! We both ordered a fried pork chop plate. The food was absolutely amazing, everything was cooked fresh and the portion sizes were very generous. The wait was 30 minutes and I immediately said to my husband “that means they’re making it fresh, I just know this is about to hit!” In my opinion the wait was worth every second! We have definitely found our new favorite soul food spot! PLEASE NEVER CLOSE!!! This spot is definitely worth trying if you haven’t, it easily surpasses any other soul food spot around!

That light skin little boy at that front needs to definitely be REMOVED!!! He act as if he better than others. Which is a definite NOT!!! Put him to do trash work or even clean the bathroom…if he does not have interpersonal or social skills to run the front. Because he will definitely be dealing with all kinds of people in life. He actually toots his nose up at people and will sit there and stare. And acted as if he didn’t want to take our order. He feels as if certain people are beneath him. I thought I was tripping the first time I went… but this second time was very much confirmation. Didn’t trip when they cheated the person I was with the first time out of a TURKEY WING! When the menu clearly says TURKEY WINGS w/RICE. Then, there were others standing there with him and looking on as if nobody was going to take our order. Made me and the company I was with feel out of place. So, we sat the menus down and walked out; then you could hear them laughing in the background. They should know there are other black businesses out here that values their customers. But that young man and his peers will be the cause of the business receiving bad reviews. And it is hot in there!!! Fix that before you look down on people.

I went for the 1st time 8/23 and the atmosphere was great the people were super nice and helpful and the food was 10/10 I don’t live in Fayetteville so I ordered two plates because i already knew it was going to be good turkey wing and fried chicken was 10/10 and my sides were also! I definitely will be going back next week!

Food is 10/10. However the young light skinned man working at the front will be the only reason I don’t come back. He is very rude as if he does not want to be there and I’m inconveniencing his day. Both times that I have been there he has been a jerk. There is food just as good with better customer service else where and that’s where I will go.

This place took me back to Sunday dinners at my big mamas house! They have actual collard greens (not a can in sight.) You should expect to wait 30 mins or so it is all cooked to order or you could simply order ahead online. Haven’t had the breakfast but I’m going to soon!

My 1st time visiting. I work on Ft Liberty and had a big order. The entire order was correct and the food was superb. Staff was courteous and atmosphere was great. Music choice was great as well. Will be visiting again soon.
