My girlfriend ordered the black bass, after our waitress recommended it, filleted because she didn’t want to see the head or the tail. What she ended up getting was a fish full of inedible piercing fish bones that hurt to touch with a finger, let alone on the inside of the mouth. After letting our waitress know, she did her best to justify the issue, only to then let us know that the chef has started to filet different from when she had a tasting of the black bass. Huh? So your recommendation wasn’t accurate? And we got charged for it! At least now she won’t recommend it to any other patrons. Never have I ever experienced something like this. It’s a shame because the bread & butter, roasted oysters, elote, and general ambience were great. The pulled pork that she recommended was pretty average though. Basically, don’t listen to any recommendation and DO NOT get the black bass. Still cannot believe we got charged for it! My girlfriend originally had two desserts that she wanted to order but was so distraught with the whole ordeal that she wanted to leave ASAP and find a sweet somewhere else. Thanks for ruining our night!

The food was alright for the price and ‘farm to table’ hype. The portion sizes were really small.

Very expensive. Brisket was fatty and the fish tacos were dry and a bit fishy (told the waitress, didn’t really seem to care). Also, felt very rushed. Positive notes, the corn bread and the eggplant hummus were both delicious.

Chef’s Garden and Crystal Springs hold a special place in my heart. My husband and I got married on property in 2015. We came to Chef’s Garden in 2016 to celebrate my birthday and our first anniversary. It is only open seasonally, Friday-Sunday. Reservations are definitely recommended. They have a great selection of fresh cocktails. The food is delicious, sourced from the garden you’re sitting in. If you make a reservation in the late evening, you will get to watch the sunset over the golf course as you wine and dine!

I have loved dining at the Chef’s Garden for just over 5 years. The food in the past was very delicious. As a vegetarian, I enjoyed a grilled cauliflower they used to serve. Every person we brought raved over the various meals and drinks. This year, the gardens are even more lush than years before. They were simply gorgeous. Unfortunately, the two times I visited this season were disappointing for myself and my guests. We noticed the portions were smaller and the prices higher. We assumed this was a result of the pandemic and were willing to make such sacrifice expecting the food to be as good as it was in prior years. Sadly, it was not. For a garden to table experience, the only had two entrees for vegetarians. One was picked so I didn’t try it (not my taste). I tried the grilled vegetable entre but it was more like a side dish as I consisted of a handful of string vegetables that I couldn’t enjoy as the were too undercooked making it difficult to digest. Their onion soup was tasty, their fish(once you removed the head and tail) wasn’t much more than 2 inch square of meat. The second time I visited, I felt I had little choice of vegetarian entrees so I chose the pulled pork. I figured it would be better than dealing with a bone. Two of us had the pulled pork and found it to not really be pulled. Some pieces were dry while others were fat. Another friend was not impressed with the fish. We enjoyed their small potatoes. Friends loved their CBD drink. Another said her Cosmo was served in a smaller glass than years prior. We are very disappointed that our favorite local place to eat is now a place we will not eat in again with it’s current menu. Sadly, the table service was also not as attentive as it was in prior years. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but in prior years we were served by females but this time we had male servers. This year I can only recommend the appetizers and drinks. I am hoping they will improve and return to their former excellence as we move beyond the impact of the pandemic.

Hidden gem open Friday-Sunday at Crystal Springs Resort during the summer. Visited this restaurant on my wedding weekend and was blown away. Food was so fresh and delicious. I watched staff picking vegetables from a gorgeous garden right next to the dining area & we ate pork that was cut from a pig cooking on a spit right in front of us. Unbelievable. Great cocktails. Great service. Great ambiance. You must go here ASAP before they close for the season.

The atmosphere and the food is incredible I wish the menu was a little expanded but what they have is delish -love the brisket love the seafood platter and roast corn but cheese appetizers and oysters are worth a trip midday.
