The place was packed when we got there. We went their during lunchtime, so we tried their lunch specials #3, #4, and #9.

10/10 would visit again when I’m back in the area. Authentic and delicious–my partner and I shared a lunch special and some yuca fries and it was a good portion. The yuca fries didn’t come with sauce, so we tried dipping them in the tomato sauce and crema. The crema was a great impromptu sauce!

Been here twice and liked both experiences. The pupusas are tasty and they have a house salsa that is very spicy, which we love! Their ensalada beverage is very refreshing and great to sip after eating some of said salsa.

My sweetie and I went here because we had a hankering for some El Salvadorian cuisine…and lemme tell you how they disappoint! Meals were proper and plentiful! Did we mention the flavors they was serving? Nah they went crazy!

I’ve gone 4 times and so far the food and service has been good. They have a lot of tables and especially for big parties of 8 people or more. Very Salvadoran from the cooks to the waiters and dishes.

Drove 45 minuets, sat for another 20, and no one ever came over. Service so far…0 stars. The atmosphere was fair and I cannot fairly content on the food. I wasn’t even offered water.

Plátano is a salvadorian restaurant with delicious Pupusas !! The Pupusas sizes are large and can fill you up. There are many other typical salvadorian plates to enjoy as well. There are plenty of seats and the restaurant size is pretty large for a space in Berkeley. Service was great and the food was yummy. Parking around this area can be a challenge, so be prepared to circle around a bit if not trying to park in the structure/garage.

Platano is swinging for the fences with tasty Salvadorian and Central American food, large portions, friendly staff come a great selection of beers that traditionally go along with these dishes, walk up friendly location, and like the name says, Platanos! If you’ve never had one of these tasty treats which is a variation on a fried banana, but with way more flavor, you need to stop in here. I ordered the Bistek, (steak. Most Latin and Caribbean countries have their own take on this dish) with black beans and rice, platanos, and a side salad on the plate. Someone’s mom is obviously working in this kitchen because this is old school goodness, and for people who want some authentic Latin food, I would absolutely go here as opposed to some pricey Upscale hipster hangout like Comal.

I love this place – the pupusas and plantains are so much better than any other place I’ve been in the Bay. Plus the pickled cabbage and hot sauce – one of my favorite spots in Berkeley.

The first thing I noticed was how affordable this place is. This is my favorite place to get tamales salvadoreños. The platanos tasted good and homemade. The service is nice and friendly. Definitely recommend.
