The food was great, and the service was ok. Maybe it’s because it was 1 hour before the closing time when we got there, the server in the front door was not so friendly. Other servers there were ok, and we understand it’s near the closing hour. Overall, the experience was still pretty nice.

I like the northern Chinese BBQ. The cuisine was pretty nice and tasty. Staffs were friendly as well and provide great suggestions on what to order. We arrived a bit late and they ran out of the tea we liked. Would definitely be back and try out other dishes.

Good selection of northeastern Chinese dishes that aren’t so easy to find in the Boston area, all at reasonable prices. Every dish we tried was tasty, but the guo bao rou was a particular standout. Only wish we had some beer to wash them down with.

Excellent authentic food from the dongbei region in China. Funky exterior with a cozy feel on cold days. Recommendations from a dongbei native: 锅包肉 twice fried pork in sweet sour sauce, 东北大拉皮 cold noodles with veggies.

My review is based only based on their mapo tofu. It’s sooo good and just what I was expecting!! Very tasty and the spicy level is just perfect. I think compared to other similar restaurants around Malden/Melrose, they have the most tasty mapo tofu.

The cute decor alone is a good reason to try Go Chi, but more importantly the food is just incredible. I haven’t tasted any bad dishes here, but I always get the lotus root and the spicy vegetarian noodles. The cucumber, peanut and tofu skin salad sounds unassuming but it’s an extraordinarily flavorful and complex dish. The egg and tomato is very good as well.

The eggplant and the skewers are good. The drink is a bit too sweet. If you pay cash, they offer 10% discounts. Meter parking outside

Presumably the manager at the front tried his hardest to put us off from eating there. I guess he’s tired of westerners complaining about the dishes. Some of the meat (bullfrog, kidney, duck heads) are maybe a bit wild for American tastes. However, stand your ground and you’ll have a feast of very authentic (I assume having never been to China) Chinese food. The highlight was the Gochi dry tofu pot which was very addictive. Firm tofu stir fried in a spicy paste. The double cooked pork was great too: super crispy, almost tempura light battered pieces of pork in a tangy not overly sweet sauce. The foil packet fish hot pot was fine (I think the tofu crushed it though) some fish cakes, blood cakes and prawns in a spicy broth. We tried a couple of the dumplings, both excellent, looked like they were made on the premises. The cabbage and mushrooms while tasty had maybe a single mushroom but it was fine. Despite the surly man at the door our waitress was very sweet and professional. Can’t wait to go back and I’ll make the owner like me lol.

Pretty decent Chinese restaurant. Spicy shrimp, chicken gizzards and chicken wings were really good. Spicy dice chicken was okay and double fried pork was too oily. The pork dumplings were good too. The dumplings are north eastern style, which is thick skin. If you are used to the Cantonese type of dumplings, which is thin skin, you may not like it.
