Joe’s Crab Shack offers a variety of favorites from all parts of the sea and shore. Food is great we enjoyed the shrimp sampler and the lobster sampler. The service is slow and can be a long wait. The view and the atmosphere is great. The amplified announcements are too loud you cannot understand what is actually being said. I had to ask each time I wanted my drink refilled.

This restaurant is located in Old Sacramento right on the Sacramento River adjacent to the Tower bridge. Mostly out of towners and tourists will come here because it’s very close to the embassy suites hotel. However, you will see locals here too such as myself. I was looking for somewhere different and fun to take my family. My children really enjoy the atmosphere and the service was excellent! Our server was so attentive. I forgot his name. The children’s menu is very decently priced and they both got a drink for $2 that had a plastic tiger shark in it. They loved it! The shark is filled with grenadine and The kids poured into the drink and the waiters cry, “Shark in the water!” Happy hour drinks and food are great. I got a watermelon mojito at the recommendation of our server and it tasted like candy. We loved people watching walking below on the river deck.

Went here for my birthday. Service was good and the food was ok. Honestly the biggest disappointment was the drinks. I mean look how bad they look compared to what they look like in the menu, didn’t even cone with the slice of pineapple.

So, taking into account the location, which is awesome, we were so disappointed. Long wait to be seated and to get food. As Landry’s Select Club members, we’re used to a certain recognition. Even in Anaheim and Orlando, much more busy than Sacramento, we get priority, even a visit from management. Not at this location. Food was good, but we won’t be back.

Starters and entrees were cold. We had the shack daddy boil that tasted like it was cooked in luke warm water crab and shrimp weren’t good. I did like the hush puppies and the dip, the calamari wasn’t good though. We ordered drinks and they weren’t served to us until after we had our entrees (wasn’t busy we were one of the first) they were pretty decent though. I would recommend the crab stuffed mushrooms the only highlight of the meal.

First time here, ordered an order of mozzarella sticks, those were amazing nice thick and cheesey. And i ordered the Cajun seafood boil. I only received a crab, maybe 1 potato, 2 corns, shrimp wasn’t cleaned, and alot more mussels in the bag, and 1 sausage. Service from waiter was good, she pressed the wrong button on the order, so we had to wait a little longer for seafood boil to come out, but food quality i wasn’t expecting. Considering I have had seafood boil in Massachusetts, definitely prefer seafood from Massachusetts. Overall good, if you’ve never had Massachusetts seafood..
