We had brunch here on a Sunday morning for the first time. We definitely recommend this place. Service was extremely quick! Which was actually nice because we had to be somewhere else right afterward and only had about 45 minutes to eat. We were able to enjoy our breakfasts and a couple of wonderful lattes. We will be coming back to try the other items on their menu.

First time here and the staff was super friendly and patiently answered all my questions. The pastries are perfectly flaky and delicious. Great drink assortment as well! Got there close to closing so the kitchen was closed but I will definitely be back to try it sometime. Got the sausage roll, cherry scone, and custard tart.

I just wanted to drop a note to say THANK YOU for helping to make our visit to Rapid City SO wonderful! We found your coffee shop online based on reviews and we wanted a place that served breakfast. I was overwhelmed at just how amazing the breakfast was on day #1! So, we came back day #2 and 3! Delicious omelettes, berry danish, and coffee was the favorite part of starting the day. We miss it so much already! We tried the pods here at home this morning and I’ll probably order some online to bring Essence to our Texas home xox. Thank you for the truly wonderful experience of your sweet, sweet coffee shop. You guys truly have it down!

This is one of our favorite spots in town and it probably has some of the best coffee in Rapid. Service is hit or miss at times. I usually have the apple sausage hash but without the apples (I am allergic and usually isn’t a problem to have them removed), but when it’s a busy morning, we will be told that it’s all pre-mixed, which is a bummer. I understand that there are people who will lie about allergies just because they don’t like a food, but I was really upset to get a fruit cup filled with apple chunks as a side for the wrap I got after sharing the allergy. Like I said, it doesn’t happen often, but sometimes the service is hit or miss. Food and drink are good, I just wish it was consistent

Went on a Monday morning, clearly a popular spot. All of their baked goods looked, good atmosphere it is really inviting. Had the veggie breakfast burrito— was very tasty and felt homemade. Chai latte wasn’t anything special and honestly was a little bad. Would go again to try a different drink.

The flavor of many of their pastries are great. They tend to look a little anemic, not golden brown, even slightly. The potato bacon egg burrito was very good. Of course the coffee was excellent.
