While visiting Holden, we were out shopping on a rainy day and decided to stop by Cafe Ahora. Walking in, the atmosphere was great. Laid back, usual little community coffee shop. The two ladies that were working were amazing and so friendly. Order a Drunken Sailor and was blown away. Highly recommend! Also left with an Apple Danish and it was the best I’ve ever had. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area. Way better than anything from the big coffee shops!

Staff is super friendly but my iced macchiato had absolutely no ice in it. I recommend not pouring the hot espresso directly on the ice because then your drink will be watery. Everything else was great though!

We made a stop by Holden this morning while visiting oak island, and happened to find this coffee joint and we’re so glad we did! Me and my husband both got coffees with cream and the dark roast is super rich and delicious, my husband said it was some of the best dark roast he’s ever had! The baristas were very kind and welcoming as well. Not tons of food options but they have a few basic breakfast things and yummy looking pastries.

Smoothies aren’t made with real fruit. Just flavored syrup and ice. After reading a review that they had great smoothies I was disappointed. Went home and easily made a better one. Girlfriend’s iced coffee was fine though.
