First, let me say that parking is atrocious. We parked a ten minute walk away. We picked Stogie Joe’s to eat at while in Philly because it was a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives spot. The place was busy and the staff was hustling. Our server was polite, but not personable. We were seated in what I would say is an add on room, which they called ‘the garage’. It was so unbelievably loud, we could not even have a conversation, and it wasn’t music or TV’s, just people! Food was good. We had the square pizza with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and more. It was good, but pretty sure we won’t be going back. I could not stand the noise. Oh, and it’s cash only, but an ATM is on site.

The “cash only” aspect negates the very good food and service. Feel ripped off by the in-house ATM, and you will too. If someone can help me understand the thinking behind “cash only” operations, please do. The needs of the customer are secondary at this business.

I cook for a living, and sadly was not too good experience. I got the crab pasta very famous there but i did not feel much crab flavor or feel the texture even. Low salt. It was almost like a red pasta and thats it. The clam linguini wasn’t that flavorful too. I like the house’s pizza. Loud inside but nice outside. Service just ok. Menu says Only Cash. Not cool.

I’ve had a couple different pizzas, house-made roast beef sandwich, pierogies, and potato wedges. Just not all at the same time. Food is consistently good. Service is good. Location outside is great for people watching. Prices are reasonable. And I never leave feeling like I need a snack.

pizzas are solid and the crab gravy is off the charts delicious. you can taste that crabs have been simmering all day. It’s worth just ordering the crab gravy, and loaf of bread, a pitcher of Yuengling and a bib. I’ll be back for sure.

Love Stogie Joes.. Went w ” the kids” the other night & we ordered a bunch of food to share Family Style. I always get the topneck clams on a half shell.. They were very cold & fresh. We shared the House Salad which is basically an antipasto- with provolone cheese, pepperoni, roasted peppers, olives, The flavored or traditional margaritas are always 5.00- I love the on the rocks w salt rim… We also got a delicious pizza w brocolli rabe.
