Built in the early 1930’s, 230 Forest Avenue Restaurant & Bar was once an open air market that served as the primary destination to procure sundries and fresh produce. The original doors still hang and are an historic element retained by the Laguna Beach Historical Society. These wooden accordion style doors still hang and open daily at 11am as they always have, welcoming guests looking for {nourishment} or a break from the multitude of activities that may bring them to or keep them in Laguna Beach for the day.

*The current operation was established and opened prior to the summer of 1995, making it the oldest continuously operated restaurant on Forest Avenue in the quaint village of Laguna Beach.

I ventured into this establishment for happy hour, but ended up staying for dinner due to the incredible food options. For me, the highlight of the meal was the lamb – it was absolutely delicious. I also sampled the scallops and risotto, both of which were amazing. They had great drink options. Despite the elegant interior of the restaurant, I decided to sit outside and enjoyed some fresh air while I ate.

First time here and it was recommended by my esthetician. Y’all. This place was absolutely delicious. I have no other words to describe the food. I ordered the Toasted Garlic Salmon and it was the best salmon I have ever had. Flavors were just so good. My husband ordered the evening’s special, Hazelnut Crusted Halibut and it was just as good. We POLISHED our plates. We also started with their rolls and butter and good lord they were good. Definitely recommend sitting outside if at all possible.

Love the location. Love the atmosphere. They have both inside and a perfect outside seating area. The artwork is definitely mentionable especially if you’re an Anthony Bourdain lover like me. Service has been pretty good every time we’ve gone. Food has been consistent. We love to stop here after picking my son up from school. Another amazing item on the menu that’s a must try is the Spätzel Mac n cheese with Gorgonzola mornay.

This restaurant is bomb! Excellent service, very friendly staff and the food is unreal. So fresh & flavorful! The roasted salmon with polenta was to die for, the halibut fish and chips were fab along with the lamb chops! Highly recommend! Doesn’t hurt that the cocktails were also very very good.

Second visit and as good and consistent as the first time. Calamari to start with ate great, excellent spice level. I had the toaster garlic salmon which was excellent, salmon cooked perfectly. Our company had the candied salmon which was great. Great service, and warm ambience

So glad we found this place while on vacation in Laguna Beach. The fish we had was the best. We had the halibut and swordfish specials. Both were very creatively put together and taste incredible! For dessert we had the croissant bread pudding. It was perfect! This will now be a ‘go to’ place when we go to Laguna Beach.

This place gets everything right. The hostess and our server were both very friendly and helpful. The drinks were creative and tasted good. The food was amazing. The atmosphere is nice too. When I ordered a salmon dish (the candied salmon salad) the server asked if I was ok with it being cooked medium rare. That’s the first time I’ve had that question for salmon and I actually love my salmon cooked like that and it came out absolutely perfect. There were 6 of us and everyone loved their food.
