Hands down one of the best hidden gems. The owner is extremely nice and the food is bomb! You want a good po-boy, they got it! You need a great seafood fried platter? Consider it taken care of. I haven’t had seafood, New Orleans style, SINCE I’ve been to New Orleans. Make sure you try the gumbo and oxtail yakamein!

We are from south Louisiana and came to Houston for a concert. We love our Louisiana food so we always try and find places out of state to make us feel at home and boy did it!! The gumbo was the best we have EVER had! The catfish po-boy was delicious, the fried green tomatoes amazing and the homemade sweet potato bread pudding was out of this world! Me and my husband don’t like sweet potato but we ate that bread pudding up!!! We will definitely be back every time we come to Houston!!

Wow, Wow, Wow!! It’s really hard to fine really good cajun food. We drove in from DFW area. The food was absolutely delicious, We almost ordered everything on the menu. The dessert are delicious. Hands down the best Cajun food we eaten so far. Service & atmosphere was great, smiling friendly faces from the kitchen to the cashier. Chef Monica is the real deal. Y’all need to checkout this place.

I’ll start by saying I’m from Louisiana and currently live in Austin, TX. We were passing through Houston and wanted something different. I’ve been craving a fried shrimp po-boy and haven’t found one in ATX yet. We discovered this place and I’m so happy we did! I got the fried shrimp po-boy, my boyfriend got the fried soft shell crab po-boy. We also tried the potato salad and boudin balls (called Mardi Gras beads). Everything was exceptional! Mrs. Monica even came by our table to ask how we were doing, what did we order, and where we were from. She was so friendly and kind, the girl that took our order was very sweet and knowledgeable as well. I’m very judgmental over Cajun cuisine in Texas but Monica knows what she’s doing y’all! The Lyric Market where it’s located was also very nice, quite a few food stalls, bar area, and parking in the garage there was cheaper than the surrounding area on the street in lots.

My family and I visited the 1929 Po-Boy Kitchen for the first time yesterday. We were greeted with a smile from the young lady behind the register and the gentleman chef that was cooking the food as well. When I tell you, ALL of food was delicious, all of our food was delicious! The presentation itself is beyond what I’ve seen at other restaurants! We will definitely be returning again to try more items!

Delicious! We had the magazine street Po Boy with the sweet potato bread pudding! It was all great! Crispy fried shrimp, bread was great and remoulade was tasty. The sweet potato bread pudding went to quick! Should’ve ordered 2! Staff was friendly and service was quick. We will definitely be back!

The food was good. However, the service was awful. This restaurant was recommended to us by a good friend. Apparently the owner was not there when we visited yesterday. My husband was trying to get information from the young lady at the register but she was so engaged in putting papers on the trays that she barely responded and made no eye contact. It was as if we were bothering her. We made a special to from the Spring area to support this business.

This place is located in a food hall called Lyric Kitchen, next to the Theatre District. The 1st thing I tried was the chicken, andouille, shrimp and crabmeat gumbo. I have to say that this is probably the best gumbo I’ve ever had including in Louisiana. It has a dark brown roux that is packed with a deep smoky flavor. The shrimp was large, plump, moist and delicious. I ordered a cup size but it was really a bowl size. I’d had to see what the real bowl size look like. It really was a generous portion.

Run don’t walk! This place is five star all the way. From the customer service to the delicious food I can not go wrong! We ordered the OXTAIL YAKAMEIN, BAYOU WATER GUMBO AND THE SWEET POTATO BREAD PUDDING! Everything was hot and made to order, seasoned well and delicious. You can tell this food was made with love. The owner/ head chef came out greeted us and made sure everything was ok with our meal. If u want good homemade New Orleans style food this is the place to go!
