We were visiting from Colorado and wanted a breakfast place close to our hotel at Prarie Band, after searching on Google maps this quaint family owned restaurant popped up. I knew it was going to be good when they asked how I wanted my bacon cooked. This is truly a farm to table made from scratch yummy goodness restaurant. Hash browns were home made not frozen, dark yoked fresh eggs! I think the only think that was not farm fresh was the ketchup! Lol 5 out of 5 stars . We will definitely stop by each time we come out to Kansas.

Delicious breakfast and friendly service! Recommend stopping in when you’re in the Topeka KS area. Try the Dirty Scramble or Drop Biscuits and Gravy!

The food here is fantastic. With only one cook, there is a wait on busy days. The food is very good. So to me, it’s worth the wait. Husband and wife running the restaurant, are so nice and down to earth. Good people! Good food! Only good things to say. We have been here multiple times and will continue to go back♡

We were cruising the area in search of wildlife and decided to take a break for lunch. We didn’t want a franchised place and opted for a mom and pop style restaurant when we saw this listed on google and decided to take a chance on 1886. The food was bomb and the people were nice. I will definitely tell people about this place.

I ate here on a Tuesday around noon and I was the only one the restaurant. I got nervous wondering if I had wandered into a place I would regret. But my fears were almost immediately subdued! The staff was amazingly friendly and the coffee was well above average (great sign!). I had the burrito and the fried hasbrowns they both were probably one of the best I’ve ever had. If I’m ever near holton/Topeka area I will be stopping from now on.

We found 1886 as a lunch option on our way to a quick golf weekend playing Firekeeper. Reminded us of a small town diner. Our group had BLT’s, phillys and a burger. Everything was delicious and service was great! Part of our group went back Saturday morning for breakfast. The breakfast burrito, scramble and “eggs in a basket”, were yummy. If you can get the homemade chips or hashbrowns, you’ll be glad you did!
