1885 Steakhouse & Saloon on the corner of McGregor & Main Street in Hill City now proudly takes its place in the long line of businesses to continue on the tradition started over 138 years ago. Hill City is the heart of the Black Hills and the historic Woehrmann building is a piece of Hill City history.
We strive to make your visit to our corner of the world a lovely experience. As you are visiting and dining with us look at the beautiful hand-hewn logs on the north and south walls of the main dining area. You must go here!! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try something new. I mean it when I say I have never been to such an amazing steakhouse. food, staff, and atmosphere is absolutely out of this world. Michelle was our waitress and she was the absolute sweetest. She made our time there a wonderful experience while taking care of all of our needs along with lots of laughs. She is such a great time. I highly recommend you try the Caesar salad, it will change your life (really the entire menu will). We look forward to our next visit. Thank you 1885 for such a great dinner and time.

Finally a excellent place to eat!! We’re locals and the restaurants have been going downhill lately but not here!! The food was hot, delicious, and timely! The potato skins were amazing! Ribs were excellent! Michelle was out server and she was so personable and attentive! The place is very well staffed and clean. We didn’t have room for dessert but we’ll be back for that!

Awesome place with a long interesting history. All the food my group ordered was delicious. But the one thing I will order every single time is the sweet potato fries. I know it sounds odd but they were perfectly cooked with the best balance of sweet and salty. A must try! Look forward to coming back!!
