Great food and drinks. Friendly and fairly quick. Being attached to the hotel is a bonus. The Brussel Sprouts and 16 layer cake are awesome even if on opposite sides of the nutritional spectrum.

We ate here three times during the weekend. I have to say, I was worried a bit after reading the reviews, but I would only consider the good ones. The portions were sufficient, and you could tell that everything is hand made. It just tasted delicious. The service was great and fast. We even had a pet dog, and we could sit with her on the side, which really shows that the place is pet friendly as advertised.

Red grits are truly amazing.. the only thing I have an issue with is every time I come there to eat I stand in the front for a while before someone comes out and seats me.

The SALMON & KALE BENEDICT. That dish inspired me to revisit the Hotel Oberlin. My family and I stayed at the Hotel Oberlin 10 years ago as a last minute decision. The Eggs Benedict I ate the following morning where good enough that ten years later I planned another stay. This dish did not disappoint. The hollandaise sauce and salmon had a nice light flavor that worked beautifully with the trout roe. I may have to make another trip and try some more of the menu items. I had the honor of meeting Chef Jim Barnhart who due to staffing issues that morning facilitated not only my entire dining experience but several other patrons. Thank you for a fantastic meal.

I ordered fish and chips (Lake Erie walleye). The price was $25.95 and a cup of coffee $5.00. It consisted of a thin filet of walleye with very thick breading and greasy redskin potatoes. Also on the plate were 3 tiny pickles and a cup of mayo that was supposed to be tartar sauce. It was terrible. The lady at the next table ordered the same and didn’t look pleased either. I did not complain at the time but when I saw the charge on my credit card it began to make me think and I contacted the restaurant by e-mail and am waiting to hear what the head chef has to say about it. I will never go back there.

Here is a place with great food, great decor (especially since the new remodel has been completed), great folks and great fun. Parking is very close to the restaurant. I enjoy the plate my food came out on. Looked like a type of stoneware. Very cool. The building on the whole is a great improvement over the old building. Very well done. They also have seasonal events here as well such as breakfast with Santa. There was even caroling too. I would recommend eating here for special occasions but not on the regular. The issue I had was the cost didn’t truly reflect the food. It’s kind of expensive for what you actually get. Example – I ordered French toast w/ fruit for my kids. They both received one piece of toast and what looked like one large strawberry chopped up. Again, a nice place to eat once in a while for special occasions but your wallet (and probably your belly) will complain afterwards.
