I like to support local diners and businesses as much as I can. Found this diner while in Cedar Rapids watching a baseball tournament. Got seated and ordered, then waited 45 minutes for food. The Shipwreck breakfast pan was really small. I ordered American fries with it and got maybe 5 of them. The pancakes were just okay, I would’ve asked for more syrup but never saw the waitress. Pretty expensive for what I received. Still want to support local but hopefully they they will step it up a bit.

We drove 3 hours yesterday because I had an appointment in Cedar rapids, afterwards we stopped for breakfast, big mistake wish we would not have stopped. Hash browns were cold only fried on one side barely any color to it at all. My little half-and-half creamers curdled as soon as they hit the coffee. My old man asked to add cheese to his Skillet, the cook forgot so they took the skillet back and came back with this yellow colored fake-looking nasty cheese. The bacon on my Skillet was so dark calling it dark brown doesn’t even come close it was black. The cook obviously has no idea how to serve food hot and fresh. Because it’s clear the cook doesn’t care. It’s a Shame. The waitress was pleasant. I had stomach cramps 1/2 way home. The chicken loved the food….we didn’t eat, but we paid for it big time

16th avenue grill is about the best place for that “diner” feel. It greatly reminded me of a restaurant from my hometown too that I absolutely enjoyed visiting as a child so props for that too. Would recommend stopping here for some breakfast or lunch!!

First time here. Not bad. Nice, calm and friendly. The food was kinda alright for breakfast. My hashbrowns were cold and dry like they had been sitting there for some time. They gave me water with brownish looking lemon wedges. The waitress was very attentive when I pointed out the ugly looking lemons in my water. Other than that, I think 16th Avenue Grill is…..Ok. Just make sure u guys are serving your food HOT or at least warm. I’ll be back for a second try. Please impress me.
